Virtual Scrambling
Scrambling is "a walk up steep terrain involving the use of one's hands". It is an ambiguous term that lies somewhere between hiking, hillwalking, mountaineering, and rock climbing. Scrambles are graded according to their technical difficulty and degree of exposure as 1, 2 or 3S (S for severe) which would correspond to British rock climbing grades between Easy and Moderate. Grade 1 and 2 can be done without ropes (although it would be sensible to carry them, in case someone not used to exposure freaks out), but Grade 3 and 3S are moderate rock climbs for which ropes and climbing gear are essential.
