Adventure Camp '26

The BBMC are offering another Adventure Camp from Saturday 1 - Saturday 8 August 2026 at the BB West Midland District Camping Centre in Dyffryn Ardudwy on the North Wales coast between Barmouth and Harlech.

We are aware that a large number of young people in the BB no longer have the opportunity to attend a summer camp under canvas or a camp that provides exciting adventure activities. There are a number of reasons for this.  Many BB leaders, no longer have the campcraft or the other skills and outdoor qualifications required to organise such a camp, or are perhaps unable to take time off work and there doesn't seem to be any opportunity for young people to attend such BB camps without their leaders.  Additionally, many companies are not large enough to organise their own camps and do not own camping equipment. This 7-night camp, at a fully equipped BB campsite, will hopefully address all of these problems. If leaders are not free to attend the camp, their young people could attend without leaders from their company (assuming that we have enough leaders at the camp to cope with this and that they can be dropped off and picked up by leaders or parents). It is also possible to travel to and from camp by train, as the campsite is a short walk (less than 200m) from Dyffryn Ardudwy Station

The BBMC will arrange a programme of adventure activities (mountain walking on the Rhinogydd mountains, water-based adventure activities and other more traditional camp activities, including spending time on the glorious beach and sand dunes at Dyffryn and swimming in the sea. Some adventure activities (like Gorge Walking) will be provided by CMC Adventure.

The fees for the 2026 Adventure Camp are expected to be in the region of £200 for young people and BB leaders who want to do the CMC activities and £140 for BB leaders who do not want to do the CMC activities. Leaders will hopefully bring young people , but will be welcome to attend without young people, if they have qualifications that would allow them to lead outdoor activities and/or can help in the kitchen, with other camp duties or just help supervise young people. Young Leaders (up to 26) are also welcome to attend the camp on their own or with young people and it can be used as a Gold DofE Residential if they don't know any others attending the camp.

It may be possible to attend the camp for fewer than 7 nights in certain cases.

A highlights video of our 2025 camp can be viewed on Facebook and links to a highlights video and a Facebook reel from our 2024 camp can be found on our News page.

If you have any questions about the Adventure Camp or if you want to express an interest in attending, please email us at bbmc@boys-brigade.org.uk.
