Adventure Camp 2024

One of the leaders on the BBMC Adventure Camp held on 27 May - 1 June 2024 at Dyffryn Ardudwy has produced a short a Highlights Video of all the activities we enjoyed which was filmed by one of the lads who attended the camp. We have also created a Facebook Reel of photos taken at the camp.

CMC Adventure at Pensarn Harbour Abernethy Trust Ardgour Centre Glencoe Outdoor Centre

It was good to see BB groups making use of outdoor activity centres in the recent Adventure Days programme and we would like to encourage groups to arrange further days, weekends or whole weeks at some of the Christian outdoor activity centres, particularly those located in mountainous areas.  Christian outdoor centres will provide daily devotions, if required, and their instructors will also provide good role models for BB young people, as well as being able to share their faith.  We have produced a list of Christian outdoor centres which we will keep up-to-date.  Please click here to view our list of Christian activity outdoor centres.

Gold Award Presentation - 13 May 2024

This photo was taken at the DofE Gold Award Celebration event held at Buckingham Palace on 13 May 2024.  The remarkable, and probably unprecedented, thing about this photo is that 3 siblings attended the same celebration event.  In the photo are James Bowman (a BBMC committee member and London District Trustee), and his twin sisters (Amelia and Catriona).  Catriona did her Gold DofE Residential at our Adventure Camp at Dyffryn Ardudwy in 2023.  They kindly invited Graham Hinton (their now retired DofE Leader from 1st Uxbridge - in the photo) to attend the event with them.

Scrambling down the Craig yr Isfa Ridge - 13 January 2024 Mountain Rescue on the Carneddau - 13 January 2024

A mountain rescue was carried out on 13 January 2024, by a group of BBMC leaders, on a winter hillwalking weekend. They witnessed an accident near the summit of Carnedd Llewellyn when a lady in front of them, without an ice axe or crampons, slipped and took a long slide on some steep icy snow over some jagged rocks, which opened a 15cm gash in her thigh.  The BBMC group treated her injury and led her down to safety, being met by the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team (shown in the photo opposite), just as it was getting dark.  The providence of God in this situation was very evident, as the right people were in the right place at the right time with the right equipment!
