History 1975-Date

We have been looking an archivist to research and document the history of the Club following the 50th anniversary of its founding. But have not succeeded in finding anyone yet.  The Club's records are not complete but we do have access to some old photos (including some 35mm slides) that could be scanned.  There are still a good number of people alive, who were members of the Club in the early years, who might be able to help us with writing a history from 1975 onwards and perhaps others with technical skills to help develop and curate an archive.

Please complete the Contact Form with the subject "Archives" if you think you can help with either of these tasks.

One of our members has recently found an old cine film of some BBMC events and BB Cleveland Hikes from the 1970s and 1980s that he has digitised. The video he has produced is embedded below.

Those were the days, when the BB, the BBMC and the Cleveland Hike were in their heyday - when male heads sported long hair (not so different during the COVID lockdowns) and when climbers wore breeches with full-length socks and used hawser-laid ropes!
