Crib Goch - 923 m (3,028 ft)
Crib Goch is 14th highest peak in Wales. It is the first peak on the classic Yr-Wyddfa / Snowdon Horseshoe ridge walk (the best part of undoubtedly the best ridge walk in England and Wales). It is a knife-edged arête with spectacular drops of several hundred feet both sides (steep on the left and near vertical on the right). The ridge is classified as a Grade 1 scramble.

Crib (Welsh) means Comb, but it is also used to describe a geographical feature such as a Crest, Top, Summit or Ridge. In this case, perhaps Ridge is the best translation.
Goch (Welsh with the C soft-mutated to G because it is an adjective that qualifies a feminine singular noun) means Red.
Therefore, Crib Goch translates as Red Ridge. You can see, from the 360° panorama, how the shape of the mountain and the pink tinge of its rocks, have given this mountain its name.
